Position Summary
The Plant Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of plant operations, including production, safety, quality, maintenance, materials, staffing, continuous improvement, cost control, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.
This leader will set the tone for the facility by building a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and results. The Plant Manager will ensure the facility meets production goals, quality standards, financial targets, and customer expectations while developing supervisors, managers, and frontline employees.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Leadership & Operations
- Lead all daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, safety, materials, warehouse, and continuous improvement functions.
- Develop and execute plant strategies that improve productivity, efficiency, quality, cost, safety, and employee performance.
- Set clear expectations for department leaders, supervisors, and frontline teams.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality, safety, and cost standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including throughput, labor efficiency, scrap, downtime, on-time delivery, safety incidents, quality defects, and cost performance.
- Create a culture of ownership, urgency, communication, and accountability across the facility.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture throughout the plant.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, environmental regulations, and industry-specific standards.
- Lead safety meetings, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Hold leaders and employees accountable for safe work practices.
- Reduce incidents through proactive training, hazard identification, and process improvement.
Production & Performance Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis, and other operational excellence tools.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, waste, downtime, and inefficiencies.
- Improve labor utilization, equipment performance, material flow, and production planning.
- Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and plant capacity.
- Lead problem-solving efforts to improve plant performance and customer satisfaction.
